Happy April, Windsong Families - Hopefully the cold weather is officially behind us!
One of the ongoing challenges at Windsong Heights is having enough equipment—like balls, frisbees, hula hoops, and skipping ropes—for students to enjoy during recess and break times. We know our students are happiest when they’re actively engaged in things they love to do.
As the season of spring cleaning and garage organizing begins, we’re inviting families to consider donating any gently used sports equipment you no longer need. If you have footballs, soccer balls, frisbees, skipping ropes, or similar items to spare, we’d be thrilled to receive them! We’ll take care of cleaning them, pumping them up, and putting them to good use. Donations can be dropped off at the office.
We’re so proud to share that Mrs. Wright was recently recognized by the RVS Board of Trustees for her outstanding efforts in helping students learn about Alberta’s democratic process. Her creative and engaging approach truly brought the topic to life for her class. Click here to learn more.
As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, we continue to practise and reflect on our emergency procedures. Alongside regular Fire Drills and Lockdown Drills, in the coming months we will also run a Shelter-in-Place drill (for scenarios like extreme weather) and a Hold-and-Secure drill (used if there's a potential threat in the community). While we hope we never need to use them in real situations, being well-prepared is key to keeping everyone safe.
Looking ahead to next year, optional student fees will remain very similar to this year’s amounts. We anticipate only minor increases, less than 5% for some, with many fees staying exactly the same. Click here to review this year’s fees.
Thanks for all of your support as we approach these last few months of our school year.
